Tooth Bonding in Connecticut

Dental bonding is a procedure that can be used to repair damaged teeth and strengthen them for long-term protection. It involves the application of composite resin material directly onto the tooth surface, which then hardens into a durable protective layer. The bonding process can help to strengthen the enamel and dentin on your teeth, making them more resistant to damage from future decay or injury.

Benefits of Dental Bonding

There are many benefits associated with cosmetic bonding.

What is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding is a dental procedure that can be used to repair chipped, cracked, or broken teeth. It can also be used as a cosmetic treatment to change the shape of teeth, change the look of discolored teeth, or fill in gaps between teeth and give you a beautiful smile.

Bonding involves the application of tooth-colored composite plastic resin directly onto the surface of the tooth structure and then lightening it with a UV dental light. This restorative procedure creates a natural-looking restoration that will last for many years.

The Dental Bonding Procedure

When starting the tooth bonding procedure, we will first color-match the composite resin material to your natural tooth so that it blends in seamlessly. We will then start to prepare the tooth using a conditioning liquid so that the bonding material will stick to your tooth.

The bonding material will then be placed on the outer surface of the tooth. The resin material can be shaped and molded so that it can look like your natural tooth’s shape. Once the bonding material has hardened, we will use a special curing light to bond the material with your tooth.

We will make any necessary adjustments to the tooth surface and bonding material after it has cured and will polish the tooth to give it a natural appearance and shine. The entire procedure can be done in a single visit and typically takes 30 minutes to an hour to complete, and is painless for most patients.

Bonding FAQs

Cosmetic bonding costs vary depending on several factors, such as how extensive the damage to the tooth is and the number of teeth being treated. On average, patients can expect to pay $300 – $600 per tooth. Dental insurance can cover some of the treatment if it is essential and not elective or considered cosmetic.

Bonding can last patients anywhere from three to ten years, depending on how well they care for their teeth. It is important to know that the bonding material can chip if you are not caring for your teeth properly, and this can require the bonding to need to be replaced.

There is not any special care required with tooth bonding. You should continue to maintain a good oral hygiene routine, brushing your teeth twice daily and flossing every day. You should also be coming in for checkups every six months to ensure your teeth are healthy and the bonding is in good condition.

No, dental bonding does not require us to remove any of your natural tooth enamel. Instead, we roughen the surface of your tooth and use a conditioning liquid to prepare the tooth to receive the bonding material.
