Missing Teeth? You Should Consider Getting Dental Implants!

In the past, having missing teeth meant you needed to get a denture, partial, or have dental bridges made.

Unfortunately, none of those options are quite like having a new set of teeth again. Bridges require grinding down neighboring healthy teeth to anchor a prosthesis into place, and removable dentures can cause sore spots or make it difficult to speak clearly.

Enter dental implants. These prosthetic teeth are now regarded as the gold standard when it comes to replacing all or just a few missing teeth. They are more ergonomic, longer lasting, and more effective tooth replacements than anything else on the market.

How do Dental Implants Work?

Each implant is an artificial root that is anchored into your mouth, in the same manner as a natural tooth. Once placed, your body forms new bone around it, so that the implant doesn’t become loose or fall out. Generally, you’ll have to wait a few months for this process of osseointegration to occur.

After everything is fully healed, your implant can have just about any type of restoration attached to it. Single implants are covered with a crown. It’s the closest thing to having a real tooth all over again.

If you’re replacing multiple teeth, a larger prosthesis such as a bridge or implant supported denture will be attached to the artificial roots. By design, these restorations fit more comfortably and don’t impact the structure of healthy, neighboring teeth. Your denture can be permanently anchored into place, or a snap-in option that’s a convenient alternative to denture adhesives or pastes.

Not a Candidate? Think Again

With the help of 3D imaging and CBCT (conebeam) scans, it’s possible for more individuals to be candidates for dental implants than ever before. High resolution digital imaging makes the process quicker, easier, and more successful.
