It’s almost time to say farewell to November and 2021 will be coming to an end before you know it — pretty hard to believe, isn’t it? We don’t bring this up to send you into a panic; we actually want to help you out. Most people don’t realize that any dental benefits that they haven’t used up will expire at the end of the calendar year. In fact, there’s a very good chance you have some unused benefits sitting in your account that you still have a chance to use up!
A lot of people mistakenly assume that these benefits roll over into the next year, but that sadly isn’t the case. If you don’t use them by December 31, you lose them. It’s a shame because you’ve earned those benefits and you’ve paid your dental insurance premiums all year. We like to make sure our patients know about this deadline so they can take advantage of the dental benefits they’ve so rightfully earned!
Here are a few ways you can use up your dental benefits before they expire at the end of the year:
Start an Invisalign Treatment
If you’ve been thinking about starting an Invisalign treatment, now is the perfect time to pull the trigger on a more perfect smile! Most people are able to use their remaining dental benefits towards their treatment. Our team can always help you determine what your specific plan will cover and give you a cost breakdown and timeline before you make a decision.
Checkups and Fillings
Your checkups, exams, and x-rays are typically covered under preventative care. If you’re due (or overdue) for one of these, schedule an appointment as soon as possible. If we discover any cavities during your visit, you can use your remaining dental benefits to cover the cost (or help you cover the cost) of the necessary filings before the end of the year. You do have to move fast, though, since our remaining 2021 time slots are filling up fast!
Especially popular for kids and teens, sealants are an effective way to protect the chewing surface of teeth (especially molars) against decay. We will carefully “paint” sealants onto the teeth, then harden them with a special light. If well maintained, they can protect your teeth for many years, keeping cavities at bay. Many dental insurance plans will cover a portion of this service, although some plans will only cover sealants on certain teeth. We can take a look at your plan to let you know what’s covered, and let you know how you can take advantage of your remaining dental benefits to cover the rest.
