Establishing a good foundation for oral health habits is important for long-term dental health. When your child visits the dentist from an early age and learns to properly care for their teeth, they are set up for a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.
Our pediatric dentist has special training and expertise in treating children’s teeth and gums and focuses on the oral health of infants, toddlers, children and adolescents.
Our Pediatric Dentistry Services
We offer preventive and restorative services to our pediatric patients in Milford, CT and West Haven, CT. Preventive services focus on keeping a child’s mouth clean and healthy, preventing problems before they occur. Restorative services deal with restoring teeth that have been damaged by decay, trauma, or other causes.

Set Your Child Up for Great Oral Hygiene
As parents, one of the best things we can do for our children is to teach and model good oral hygiene habits. Here are some things you can do to make sure your child has good dental health.
Infants
Did you know that babies have less saliva in their mouths than adults? Even before your child has teeth, you should clean and care for their gums by using a warm, damp cloth to gently rub along the gums and tongue. This will help remove bacteria that builds up during feeding.
Toddlers
As your child’s primary teeth begin to erupt, you will need to help them learn to brush their teeth. You should brush your toddler’s teeth at least twice per day, using a soft-bristled toothbrush and toothpaste designed specifically for small children.
Children
As your kids get older, they will learn to brush their teeth independently. You can help your child learn good brushing habits by reminding them to brush and floss twice per day for at least two minutes. Encourage them to brush all their teeth and their tongue. You may even choose to brush your teeth together so your child can see what proper brushing looks like.
Teenagers
Continue to bring your teenager in for regular dental cleanings and checkups. Our dentist will monitor their teeth for early signs of orthodontic needs or wisdom tooth extraction—both common in the teenage years.
